The Greek School of Brighton will be celebrating the 28th October “Οχι” holiday on Sunday the 28th October. We commemorate the day the Greek government rejected the Italian ultimatum delivered at 3am on the 28th October 1940 with one iconic word “NO”. The Italians attacked Greece at 5:30am the same day and we thus entered WW2 on the side of the allies, leading to the death of over 800 000 soldiers and civilians, equivalent to 11% of Greece’s population.
Our children will be performing poems and Greek traditional dances in the church directly after the Sunday service. Coffee and refreshments will be served by the ladies of the Philanthropic Society. Please come and celebrate this special holiday with us.
